Statement on Responsibility for Security of Energy SuppliesEIUG has an established position of support for a market based energy policy. We appreciate that there is a role for government in setting the framework of energy policy, but would be concerned if an explicit duty on the Secretary of State to ensure security of supply had the effect of dissuading investors from entering the market. We are confident that the market will continue to deliver adequate security of supply, providing it is not subject to political interference, and therefore remain to be convinced that that further powers for the Secretary of State are required.
